Rob came over and we tried out his Vevor dint pulling thing with mixed results. It seemed to work a little bit on the solid metal. I think it would have been more effective on thin steel, that is, the kind of steel you find on a modern car, but it did actually pull some of those door dints up a little. Was it worth it? I don't really think so. The offshoot of all this is now I have to grind the studs off and it appears as thought the studs have gone right through the metal and left holes. Rob tried a piece of the wavy weld material on a longer dint but it just kept pulling free of the metal, so we gave that up. We also knocked out a couple of dints in the roof and hit that with a thin film of filler. Will be sanding that back on the weekend.
I also plan on doing the bonnet again as it was starting to show some rust patches appearing through the 2k. I only gave the bonnet just one coat, so I guess that was why it was rusting again after a year or so sitting there. Unfortunately, I will have to strip it right down to metal again and start over. It is the only way to be certain I have removed all the rust. This time I bought two cans of 2k epoxy primer in a can as I have no idea what I am doing with a spray gun.
Also, check out the old girl catching a tan in the sun!
We had to remove the truck from the garage while a new single roller door gets fitted up. It will certainly solve the problem of moving in and out of the garage once the truck is mobile.Speaking of which, we have been in touch with the engine builder and he has shown us some of the parts he has gotten ready for the rebuild. So far, I am very disappointed in the whole experience as it has been over six months. Add to the fact that he has sent me another invoice and has omitted the bit where he has quoted to fit up the engine in the engine bay. He has also reneged on providing me with the roller rockers I asked for. Earlier in the build he was going to rip me off on a set of cheap ass procomp heads for four grand. You can buy them on eBay for around one grand. Anyway, with luck, I will have something in the engine bay soon that should be half of what I expected for about thirty percent more than I had budgeted for.
