Heavy Meddle 1956 Ford F100 Australia

Yes, folks, I'm back again with another F100 project! Can't wait to get stuck in! Hope you follow along if only for the laughs! Yes, that's right! We've got ourselves another truck to work on. It's a 1956 F100 and I can tell you it is gonna take a TON of work to get her up and running. So, as I used to say (and still do) stick around...things could get ugly!

Donor Clevis found for handbrake cable

I bit the bullet and bought the second handbrake from another seller on Gumtree, and this one had a clevis attached. It arrived the other day with a set of spare side windows for the truck which should clean up reasonably well. I may not ever need them, but these sorts of parts are not that easy to come by nowadays, and we're talking 70 year old trucks, by the way.

Had a bit of a tough time getting the old cable out of the clevis by using just a pair of multigrips on the the threaded part of the cable, but that was never going to work. Had a bit of a brain wave and stuck the cable in a vice and twisted the clevis off, Worked a treat.

Bit of a comparison between the old and the shiny old. As current tastes reflect, I still kinda think the old, rusty look doesn't look too bad, but since this truck has new pieces, some chromed components are not going to look out of place.

Tried hard to unscrew the old cable this way but it was impossible. A stroke of genius made me reverse the objects into the vice and voila!

Hooked up and ready to go with a new cable.
